Similar to cooking from scratch, you won’t find days-old bouquets at Erika’s Flowers, located on 212 S. Washington Avenue.
“I usually buy fresh flowers every day so that everything can be made fresh,” says Erika Woods, the owner of Erika’s Flowers.
“They’re freshly cut so we can make arrangements for customers when they come in. They don’t have to buy arrangements that have been sitting in a cooler for days.”
The shop also offers a gift area, live plants, and same-day delivery.
“I was interested in art as a child, and went on to study fine arts in college,” she says. “But I’ve also always been interested in flowers, and this stuck.”
But Woods says her work with flowers gives a reward that goes beyond aesthetics.
“I get to be a part of all these special moments in life: weddings, bereavements, births, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day. I get to create part of that moment.”
